Q1.Swanky Mag: Hello Jane, Can you introduce yourself to the readers of Swanky Magazine? Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hello Swanky, I am Jane, 35 years old, photographer and retoucher for 10 years, specializing in studio and outdoor portrait.

Q2. How, and when did you enter photography? and why did you choose creative direction as a career?

I was fortunate to have always been immersed in the world of photography, modeling, and cinema thanks to my parents who sharpened my knowledge and curiosity about these fields during my education, to continue in this direction has always been obvious, first in passion and then in my main activity.
the artistic direction comes together with the construction of my universe: responding to those desires by being on all fronts is what makes me happier in creation.

Q3.What does photography mean to you?

Photography must be representative of our feelings, our desires and our rejections, by those themes, those models, those colors, those productions, I believe that it offers this specific look to the creator mixed with the viewer gaze , composing an image and making it feel a lot without saying a word.

Q4.Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers, and in which fashion field do you specialize?

I have a style called "Moody" and "Vibrant", revisiting the technicolor retrowave way! (Yeah you know what I mean ) I specialize in the fashion areas Like Queer, Underground and Glamour style .

Q5.Where did you get your inspiration?

Being born in 1986,I love the kitsch light atmospheres of the 80s ! Nevertheless, I love mixing styles of colorimetry from the 60s to 70s.
Comics, animation film and video games are huge influences to my photographic vision and process, But most of all : DRAGQUEENS !

Q6. Do you think ahead what you want in the picture?

Yes, it’s an exercise I’ve been doing recently in preparation for photo sessions, since 2 or 3 years, which is totally essential to the smooth running of a session for the team: The MOODBOARD Rules ! (laughs)

Q7. Do you consider yourself an amateur or a paid professional?

I am professional and practice as a self entrepreneur.

Q8. What was your most memorable session and why?

Without hypocrisy I believe that all my sessions have brought me something strong and different, the connection with "the other", the brainstormings, the implementation, the phototherapy, the beautiful sorority created during the photo sessions with girls and the lgbtiqa+ community ...it's whole energy that makes each session unique, And I really think and fell after each photo shoot, that It was the most beautiful photo session of my whole life. Yeah am kinda crazy you know (laughs)

CANON! 5D Mark iii / 85mm

Q10. What skills do you think are needed to become a successful photographer/creative director? Also, what is one of the tips you would like to offer to a new photographer/retoucher/creative director looking to start their own business?

The work, tirelessly, do not expect results too high at the beginning.
Often our expectations can exceed our skills when we start, especially solicited by the image, daily as we are, we know in our core what result we want, but the ways, techniques, and skills implemented to obtain those results are not always accessible to a beginner at the moment.
Progress comes with work.
Good work comes with patience and humbleness.
and above all, DARE!
