Q1.Swanky Mag: Hello Ala, can you introduce yourself to Swanky Magazine’ss readers? Can you tell us a little about you?
Hi, I’m Ala. I’m 21 years old and a beginner in the photography world but my work has already been appreciated by many. I’m also very interested in fashion, makeup, and video shooting.
Q2.How and when did you get into photography?
It kinda started when I got my first camera when I was 8 years old. I was doing a lot of photoshoots of my dolls, then as I grew up I started doing self-shots for Instagram. Last year I realized I really wanted to start doing photos of other people and not just myself.
Q3.What does photography mean to you?
I just like to create and bring my ideas to life. When I look at my photos, I’m like ‘damn that turned out really cool, what project should I do next.
Q4.Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I don’t really have one style, but mostly If I had to say it’s vintage mixed with cinematic and alternative
Q5.Where do you get your inspiration from?
From everything. Old movies, tv-series, Instagram, clothes, locations, celebrities…seriously everything.
Q6.Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Yes, I always have the general idea of how I want my pictures to look like, but in reality, they always come out better than that, which is great!
Q7. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Now I’m for sure a hobbyist but in a couple of years, I hope I will be a paid professional.
Q8. What has been your most memorable session, and why?
Every one of them. Couldn’t pick one. With every session, I’m grateful that the person likes my style of photography and wants to work with me, even though I’m still a beginner.
Q9. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Canon just because I never worked on Nikon. I’ve only tried 2 lenses so far, so it would be Canon Ef 50 mm f/1.8. Not the best but works for now.
Q10. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
Since I’m a fairly new photographer, I’m not gonna have the best advice but I would say don’t fear, be confident in what you’re doing and remember you don’t have to obey any rules since it’s not what makes a good photo.
Q11. What do you think of our new magazine?
It’s great! I really like the fact that you dont publish photos in just one particular style. You create amazing opportunities for models and photographers to be seen!
